Gravel Biking Tour UK

Winter Gravel Bike Touring

January is a tricky time when it comes to biking in the UK, whether it be road biking, cycle touring, gravel riding or mountain biking. The roads, cycle tracks and mountain biking trails can be icy and keeping hands and toes warm can be a real challenge. This year, we're trying not to let the inclement weather stop us from enjoying our favourite pastime and took to our mountain bikes yesterday to boost the vitamin D levels and start 2025 as we mean to go on!

Galloway, where Trailbrakes Biking Holidays is based, offers an idyllic and often overlooked landscape for cycling enthusiasts from all disciplines, including off-road gravel biking. From rolling hills to rugged coastlines, the region provides a mix of terrain that’s perfect for cyclists seeking adventure beyond the typical cycling routes and popular gravel and mountain biking tours. In addition to its stunning landscapes, Galloway offers a true sense of adventure without the crowds often found in other biking destinations. It’s a place where the roads are quieter, the air is fresher and the biking trails feel like they’re yours alone.

We were certainly on our own as we biked through snow yesterday. Although there was no evidence of the white stuff at Trailbrakes HQ, just a few miles away, we were treated to wintery wonderland biking scenes! If you'd like to experience these fabulous gravel and mountain biking trails in warmer conditions on one of our bespoke biking tours, please get in touch and we'll design a cycling tour based on your fitness, skill level and cycling holiday dates.

Our tailor-made cycling tours that are based in Galloway include the cycle touring or road biking Kirkpatrick Coast to Coast and Solway Coast Tour, the mountain biking or gravel biking Galloway Gravel tour and the mountain biking Southern Upland Coast to Coast tour.
