Coast to Coast Biking Holiday

England's Coast to Coast MTB Tour

Wainwright's Coast to Coast route through the beautiful English countryside, including the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, was devised by Alfred Wainwright in the early 1970's. That's why Peter and I first researched the trail's suitability for mountain biking back in 2013 and since then it has been one of our most popular mountain biking holidays for adventurous cycling enthusiasts. Today it's become one of the most popular long-distance off-road routes in England and is now officially the newest National Trail in the UK.

When we first rode the route 13 years ago, we found that, although the Wainwright's coast to coast route is great for hiking, some of the trails are just too steep and rocky to make for a pleasurable cycling tour. So we spent many years researching and perfecting the cycling route until we feel as though we've got the perfect balance between the technical, challenging MTB trails and a pleasurable self-guided cycling holiday experience.

Beginning in Ravenglass in Cumbria on the West coast of England, and finishing in the historic fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay, this off-road biking route is perfect for mountain bikers looking for a challenge through some of the last wilderness areas in England. Following mainly bridleways, deserted, remote country roads, ancient drove roads and forestry tracks, with the added option of taking on some of the purpose-built mountain biking trails in Grizedale Forest, our Wainwright's C2C biking route is a fantastically varied MTB trail crossing England at a point which includes some of the most spectacular National Parks in the country.

Our C2C mountain biking route is 193 miles long and includes some sections of trail that are technical with loose rocks and slippery roots so it's really only suitable for mountain bikers with off-road cycling experience and good trial skills. Most people choose to bike the route on 4 or 5-day biking holiday, with the 5-day version being more manageable for those who prefer to have time to enjoy the stunning views, and there are plenty of those on this fabulous Coast to Coast biking route. Although this C2C biking route can be tailored to your exact requirements, because it passes through really remote and rugged areas of England, we are limited to splitting the route into manageable distances by the availability of good quality hotels and guest houses, though we have organised this mountain biking holiday for groups with up to 7 days of biking. so if you like the sound of the route but feel as though the daily mileages might be too demanding, just get in touch with us and we will do our very best to provide you with a perfect C2C biking holiday across England.

If you're looking for a hassle-free C2C mountain biking holiday, that explores rugged mountains, stunning open moorlands and charming rural villages in Northern England, contact us and we can organise the perfect bespoke Coast to Coast MTB holiday for you and your friends!
